Railway stations are among the most dangerous environments in the UK and the surfaces installed at these stations range from tiles to tarmac, so finding hard wearing anti slip, safety surfacing for all these surfaces is a challenge.

JSE Contract Services have a massive range of non slip solutions for every surface and the amount of footfall poses no challenge to the systems we install.

We recently carried out an installation in London where the station had 3 steep access ramps and a subway which suffered from excessive condensation causing over 20 slip accidents a week.

They were so desperate that another company installed a coating system with quartz as the anti slip additive, but within a year the quartz aggregate had worn away due to the 40,000 + people per week using this busy station and the surface became extremely dangerous.

To minimise disruption we carried out tests to the installed coating and were able to adapt one of our systems to bond to that coating without removing it.

The station closed the ramps for the weekend and we were able to apply our 4 coat fast drying system to over 400 M² and it opened again Sunday afternoon.

There have been no reported slip accidents since installation and on inspection after 8 months the coating hasn’t worn at all and the slip resistance is still above the legal requirement.
