The steel chequer plate walkway up to this Lifeboat station in Kent had been previously coated with an anti slip system that was failing and there was a slip issue where the coating had completely come off and a trip hazard where the remaining patches of coating were sticking up.

The issue with the existing coatings failure was that it wasn’t flexible enough to take the movement of the structure and the surface hadn’t been correctly prepared in the first place, so the coating hadn’t adhered to the steel correctly.

We removed the existing coating by hand, prepared the galvanised chequer plate by means of dust free, encapsulated shot blasting, and then our applied our flexible, ultra fast curing anti slip system to the walkway with no disruption to the lifeboat stations operations.
