The existing flooring in this warehouse at an RAF base in Rutland was failing due to underlying damp issues and also presented a slip hazard in wet conditions.

Our remit was to remove the existing coating system, prepare the substrate and solve apply a coating system that could tolerate severe damp issues.

We started by removing the existing coating using floor planing equipment and tile lifting tools, as the existing coating was over 5mm thick in some places.

Once the coating was removed we found a thin coating underneath so we shot blasted the floor to remove this final layer.

The floor was then diamond grinded to remove the grooves created by the floor planers to create a smooth, uniform finish ready to accept our coatings.

Once all the preparation was completed, we applied 3 coats of our damp tolerant coating system and added a hard wearing, slip resistant aggregate to provide a slip resistant finish in wet conditions.
